GoPlay: Outdoor Sports Booking App
A mobile-first outdoor sports booking product designed for daily use.
Published July 22, 2026

Project overview
At Devowise Studios, we designed GoPlay, a mobile application that makes discovering, booking, and participating in sports activities simple and accessible. The platform connects users with nearby sports venues, events, and communities while providing a seamless experience for organizing games, improving skills, and staying active.
Our objective was to create an intuitive, community-driven experience that removes the friction often associated with finding players, reserving venues, and managing recreational activities. By combining thoughtful UX design with a scalable technical architecture, we developed a platform that encourages engagement while supporting the needs of both casual players and dedicated sports enthusiasts.
The project focuses on accessibility, convenience, and community, three key elements that drive long-term user engagement in recreational sports.
The challenge
Outdoor sports enthusiasts often struggle to find local activities and coordinate games. Finding local sports activities often involves fragmented communication, inconsistent booking systems, and limited opportunities to connect with players who share similar interests or skill levels. Users frequently rely on multiple platforms to organize games, reserve venues, and discover new activities.
Our challenge was to design a unified platform that would simplify the discovery of sports activities and nearby venues, streamline the booking process with minimal user effort, foster meaningful community engagement between players, deliver personalized recommendations based on user interests and activity history, and create a scalable platform capable of supporting future sports categories, events, and social features.
Our solution
To achieve these goals, we focused on creating an intuitive and engaging mobile experience, simplifying venue discovery and reservation workflows, encouraging community interaction through player connections and activities, personalizing recommendations using user behavior and preferences, designing responsive interfaces optimized for both Android and iOS, and building a scalable backend infrastructure capable of supporting growing user demand.
Process
Our team led the project from product strategy through interface design and technical architecture, including Information Architecture, User Journey Mapping, Mobile Experience Design, and Backend Architecture Planning.
1. Discovery & UX Strategy
We began by researching user behavior within recreational sports platforms, identifying the challenges users face when organizing games, finding venues, and connecting with other players. These insights helped us create a streamlined user journey that minimizes friction while encouraging users to explore activities, reserve venues, and become active members of the local sports community. The experience was designed around a simple progression: Discover, Connect, Book, Play.
2. Information Architecture
A clear information hierarchy was essential to help users quickly find relevant sports, available venues, upcoming activities, and community events. Content and navigation were organized to reduce unnecessary steps, making it easy for users to browse activities, manage bookings, view schedules, and access personalized recommendations from a single interface.
3. UI Design
The interface was designed with simplicity and energy in mind, balancing clean layouts with engaging visuals that reflect the excitement of sports and recreation. Key design decisions included clean navigation optimized for mobile interactions, strong visual hierarchy for effortless content discovery, card-based layouts for activities, venues, and events, consistent design components for scalability and usability, personalized recommendation sections that adapt to user interests, and interactive elements that encourage exploration while maintaining clarity.
4. Scalable Development Architecture
To support a growing user base and real-time activity management, the platform was built on a scalable cloud-based architecture. Machine learning models analyze user preferences and participation history to deliver personalized activity recommendations, while Redis improves application performance by caching frequently requested data. Cloud infrastructure ensures reliable performance for bookings, venue management, and user-generated content as the platform scales.
